  • Email Marketing was something I accidentally discovered when I was managing events at a ski resort.My event emails stopped being sent out after the resort was restructured. I attended school for Industrial Design, so I learned basic Photoshop skills. I started designing emails, but they weren’t being constructed.

    Like most millennials, I had a MySpace. I knew some HTML/CSS basics and was able to create email templates. Before I knew it I was managing the email program, building content calendars and segmenting 12 business units across a multimillion-person database. Pierson Krass was my co-founder after 2 years at the resort. I decided to join the agency with him to manage email strategy for more than 10 brands.

    After spending a year with the agency, I was ready for NYC. I wanted to work in house to learn more about enterprise technology and focus on custom automations. I was the email marketing manager at an on-demand massage company. I was captivated by the endless possibilities offered by new email providers and came up with innovative solutions for a brand built on a custom backend.

    Pierson reached me after a year to inquire if I was interested in building L//S, and starting my own Email division. And here we are.

  • Lunar Solar Group’s email program was launched in late 2018. In the beginning, I was responsible for building and implementing the email strategies. So, I managed a designer who brought the visions to reality. Fast forward 2.5 years, and the CRM team now serves 40+ clients per month with 15 rockstar employees.I believe in creating scalable email and SMS programs that can grow with you. Although I am a specialist in CPG DTC brands I have also worked with resorts, tech and b2b. There are many ways that email and SMS can be used to accomplish the same goal. Accounts are designed to be tested efficiently.

    My goal is to reduce the noise and opinions in email and SMS marketing. I brought on board a team consisting of three analysts in Q3 2020, which allowed me to elevate services and testing to a whole new level. We created a testing program that we use to enroll our clients. It includes specific controls around open rate, send times and cadence. The tests are conducted for three months and contain at least 30 datasets. We have 15 clients, so we can track specific industry accounts with 100% confidence. With this in mind, I can say with 100% certainty that you don’t need to include the sales amount in your subject line. However, vague messaging out performs specific messaging in opens as long as it mentions the word sale. Neither prove constant significance in conversion.

    When I’m not working, I can be found drinking bourbon somewhere downtown in NYC or snowboarding/mountain biking (season depending) in Park City. Let’s link.

  • Although I was skeptical that anyone would click here, here are some insights into what I am working on and where it might go.First, I want Lunar Solar’s CRM program to continue growing. It should be known for its flexibility and testing capabilities. There’s so much cool tech that can be used to retain customers. I am excited to see how SMS and subscription programs are pushed and would love to be more involved in the products that make this possible.

    I am jealous of all the attention brands received. I would love to start my own CPG brand, but I have to find something that I am passionate about. Perhaps bourbon. Keep watching.

    Oh, and I would love to go back to riding 30 days per season. I used to snowboard for 30+ days per year. I have lost that practice and want to get it back. Next April, I will turn 30, so my goal is to ride 30 days on my snowboard and 30 on my mountain bike.
